Yancoal is a long term client for AE Group, and when a number of operational changes occurred at the mine which necessitated the construction of a large levee embankment and a creek crossing, it was an easy choice for them to engage our team once more to assist them in developing a safe, economical and appropriate outcome to meet their needs.
Our practical experience in constructing levees and dams combined with our skilled operators and professional management team ensures our clients receive their project on-time and under budget.
The 12 Mile Creek / A-Pit Levee project consists of two elements, namely:
A 2klm long embankment bund approximately 6m high constructed around the Southern end of the Company’s A-Pit, to prevent flood water from entering the operational area from nearby 12 Mile Creek.
Construction of a 5 barrel x 2.55m diameter corrugated steel pipe (CSP) crossing that ties in with the existing DOM2 Levee near the Company’s run of mine (ROM) Pad, including construction of roadway over. The crossing provides access for the mine trucks to the coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP), and for the haul trucks to travel to the Boonal load out facility, and for general mine access for light vehicles and service vehicles.
The works involved:
This project involved working within a mine lease and interaction with existing mine operations.
The project has met and exceeded all key performance criteria of time, cost and quality.
