Our Client (Middlemount South) required the construction of a 4.13km diversion of Cockatoo Creek and a 5.63km long certified engineered levee to protect the mine from flood waters. The client also required the realignment of Barwon Park Road to allow the mine to commence mining operations behind the newly constructed flood levee.
This project comprised the establishment of site facilities, site preparation, bulk earthworks, drainage, concrete work, pavements and road furniture required to construct the Cockatoo Creek Diversion, Flood Levee and realignment of Barwon Park Road to facilitate the expansion of the mine pit to the east.
The project scope of works;
This project required complex material management, supervision and staging to ensure project quality requirements were exceeded in order to construct the certified flood levee and road realignment.
The client, along with the certifying engineer, were satisfied that the project was delivered at a high safety and quality standard.
