AE Group Civil & Mining were engaged by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to undertake reconstruction work of the Monto-Mt Perry road upgrade project Section 3: Scrubby Creek to Eastern Creek. This was a significant project for the region as these works provide an 8m wide sealed bitumen surface to improve safety for motorists and improve traffic efficiency.
The primary components of the project work included:
Large volumes of material required removal from two major cuts along the alignment to tight time constraints. AE Group mobilised company owned plant including CAT D9 Dozer and a fleet of CAT 631 and 633 scrapers. Final trim batter work was undertaken with PC300-8 excavators (with GPS) providing fast efficient pegless operations. AE Graders with GPS capability were also utilised in the bulk earthworks crews and for placement of gravel pavements, which was accomplished by the company’s skilled final trim operators.
The large volumes of material hauled through the project required the AE fleet to interact with other construction traffic extensively, as well as local road users, which was managed without incident due to the high standards of safety awareness and attention to task management instilled in the project team.
