The management of surface, groundwater and Mine Affected Water (MAW) is a key consideration in achieving mining operation success.
Our objective on the Oaky Creek North Drainage Levee was to capture MAW from the Oaky Creek North main industrial and hardstand areas.
Through considered planning and utilisation of current landforms, we developed a series of clean and MAW catchment drains with construction of a new pollution pond at the southern end of the catchment. With dedicated separation drains and spillways we have successfully managed water runoff.
All works were undertaken safely and in accordance with all Oaky Creek North Mine and statutory safety requirements.
