Evaporation Pond Construction

The project involved the construction of the Oaky Creek North ROM Evaporation Pond (22ML), for Xstrata at Oaky Creek Coal Pty Ltd.

The scope comprised the removal of vegetation and stockpiling of topsoil, formation of keyway with clay cores, construction of embankments with clay liner, rock lined spillways and diversion channels.

The project had numerous items in the contract that varied and we undertook additional scope items (variations) but still managed to complete the works under time and budget. The final quantities remained close to the schedule quantities. Through extensive material management and construction methodologies we were able to eliminate the need for numerous items in the Bill of quantities. The savings borne from this enabled the client to issue additional scope items. The final contract value remained under budget to the staisfaction of the client.

The entire project was completed in 12 weeks.
