Reject Dam Cell 3 Expansion

As part of the clients Operational requirements and increased production at the mine, they required an expansion to an existing tailing dam which AE constructed in 2016. A further 1.5m height was added to an active tailings co-disposal storage dam.

The project comprised:

• Raising by 1.5m and widening by 8m whilst maintaining access for mine personnel and vehicles
• Construction of zoned embankment 1.5km long using materials from three borrow areas
• Moisture conditioning and placement within tight moisture tolerances
• Haul Road development and maintenance (3km long)
• Construction of HDPE Lined spillway & Stilling Basin
• Clean water diversion drains including culvert crossings

The project team successfully coordinated and managed the project to meet strict time, cost and quality requirements.
