Reject Dam Cell 3 Upgrade
Our Client required the construction of a certified engineered structure for the holding of co-disposal tailings (Rejects Dam) known as Reject Dam Cell 3 Expansion at Cameby Downs Mine site, Queensland.
This project comprises the establishment of site facilities, site preparation, earthworks, drainage and concrete work required for the construction of a perimeter embankment adjacent to existing Cell 1 and Cell 2 Rejects Dam to accommodate additional tailings storage to service their operations.
Scope of Works:
- Construction of 1.5klm zoned perimeter embankment 6m high
- Tie-in to existing ‘live’ rejects dam embankments
- Establishment of borrow pits (internally and externally)
- Moisture conditioning and placement of this material within tight moisture tolerances
- Placement of imported zone 2A and 2B filter material in conjunction with adjacent layers
- Construct clean water diversion drains, including culvert crossing/s
- External and downstream spillway drains
- 10 No. Standpipe Piezometers and measuring equipment
- Topsoiling, grass seeding and hydro-mulching the zoned perimeter embankment
This project involved working within a mine lease and interaction with existing mine operations.
